Cheeky

A story I didn't even hear about until after the Olympics was that Joey Cheek, who won a gold and a silver in speed skating, donated his bonus money ($40,000 total) to an organization called Right to Play. It helps kids to learn and grow through sports and play. His money is going to help kids in the Sudan. He's gotten companies to match his donation, and is now over $300,000.

What a great way to end the Olympics - it's so fitting.

New Roomie!

Well, I've had to look for a new roommate once again. Jen decided she wanted to be able to have people over a lot more than I really want her to. So she's moving out on Saturday and Emily is moving in. She's a fun girl who is really mellow and laid back. Heather, I got a reference and called to check her out. Her old roommate had nothing but good things to say about her. Plus, she's a chef. Really. She trained at the French Culinary Institue and now cooks at a restaurant in the city. So if I get any good recipes I will pass them on!

M*A*S*H

The US Army has apparently done away with MASH units in favor of CASH units, which are more mobile. When I came across this article on BBC News it just made me think of laughing with my mom, because my mom loves the TV show M*A*S*H and I grew up watching every single episode.

Let it Snow!

Blizzard 2006 is here! I can't believe how much snow fell yesterday -
everything is covered in snow and still looking beautiful. Tomorrow
I'm sure it will all be slush. Got to Washington Square Park today to
take some pics!

(this one is just so you see how high the snow it!)

Let the games begin!

I love the winter olympics! I'm not sure what it is, but the last few olympics I've gotten really into them, and this year is living up to the excitment. Shaun White just made it into the finals in snowboarding, even though he fell on his first run. He came back and got the HIGHEST score in the final placements! So exciting.

Title...

So my blog title, a little odd, I know. But it's one of my favorite quotes from a T-shirt vendor on Prince Street. And it's so true. NY is obnoxious, loud, rude and just a little nuts. But I'll really miss it when I leave. There's something oddly compelling about this place. It's not true love. It's kinda love.

SuperBowl Sadness

Texting family and friends about the sad, sad game.

At least there's beer!

Get mad and hang your heads in shame, Seattle.

Having no real loyalty to either team I decided to go in with friends from the Pacific Northwest and cheer for Seattle on Sunday. It was so sad to see those Steelers go on and steal the game. But we headed to DBA and had some good eats from Paul's, so that sort of made up for it all!
